Components of the Course

Over the course of the training you will gain foundational, fundamental and uniquely put together knowledge and experience in:

Emotional Intelligence of Yin Yoga: The body has natural impulses everyday that are uncontrollable. This impulse is a burst of emotion that is ready to express itself through action. Those with little body-brain connect, and lack of emotional awareness, suffer the greatest risk; unconscious actions and lack of control. By studying emotional intelligence, we can lean towards conscious response rather than blind reaction. Through the power of Yin Yoga you will learn to recognise and manage emotions, within yourself and guide your students, to developing a greater natural intelligence of this body dimension.

Mindful Aromatherapy (essential oils to support emotional well-being): Aromatherapy is an ancient and natural medicine practice that is being used more and more in daily lives at present for emotional well-being. You will learn how to use specific oils that complement the practice or Yin Yoga, the alleviation of imbalances and holistic well-being. Considering the 5 dimensions of the body, this extra chapter of Yin training will allow you to speak to people on another level, without using words.

Mindful ways of Teaching: Understanding the emotional depth that is involved with this sacred practice and honouring everyone’s personal experience and practice. You will gain a general understanding of the mental and emotional health considerations that may arise as well as what is appropriate in your scope of practice.

Teaching Responsibly: Teaching from the heart while understanding the great responsibility you hold. You will gain practical experience in holding space for others mentally, emotionally and energetically but also keeping yourself and the student’s safe while practicing yin yoga. We will explore things like communication, propping, sequencing and other components that make a strong teacher. You will be able to confidently sequence and guide a safe and accessible class while understanding the power of the language we, as teachers, use as well as offering ways in which your students can further explore the capacity of their thoughts, beliefs and patterns.

The Day

Emotional Approach to Yin Yoga: Emotional Intelligence, Aromatherapy and Mindful Teaching

Morning Nurturing Practice:

This is the main practice of the day and is Yin with a lens of the mind and how we can shape it during Yin Yoga. We will dive into the depths of what it means to fully present in the mind, understanding and embodying the principles and benefits of Yin Yoga from the scope of your mindset. Taking a detour from the body, we will focus on the mental habits and how one can break free from what holds us back, using Yin Yoga a positive tool for self- development. This will give you more than a unique twist to your teaching and practice. This course will give you a depth and spice to your yoga teaching like no other.

 

Theory:

This is the juicy bit of the course where we will have the opportunity to intricately break down the components of Yin yoga in relation to the mind and reveal what it all means. These theoretical classes provide you with an opportunity to take a deeper look and specifically evaluate, question, discuss and develop the topics which make up the backbone of teaching, exploring and developing your experience and expertise in yoga. Some of the theory classes will have supporting educational videos and workshops to accompany the lecture. This session is to give you the scientific and theoretical foundation needed for a deeper understanding of experiential Yin yoga.

Art of Teaching: These classes are where we will breakdown what it means to teach yin yoga. This is the ‘how to’ and the ‘why’ of target areas, cueing and propping. You could call this the ‘behind the scenes’ of yin yoga teaching. The art of teaching is a discussion-based class and participation from students is welcome and encouraged. We will focus on breaking down the asanas from a mental approach in order to build your teaching expertise.

Empowering Evening Practice: Evening practice incorporates a multitude of inner practices that range from yang styles of yoga and movement, to a meditation circle, aromatherapy workshops and spiritual practices.

Experiencing is fundamental to learning 

Practising
This course offers you the time to move into the parasympathetic nervous response with the beat of your own rhythm. Embodying your body-mind-breath connection throughout the course you will feel revitalised and inspired. You will develop and deepen your Yin Yoga practice way beyond asana. Learning to really listen in, your mind will become sharp and focused, while your breathing conscious and fluid.

Teaching
On a teaching level you will be propelled into becoming a highly experienced Yin Yoga teacher. Developing techniques and methods, that are focused on your personality, your confidence will exponentially grow. We will explore how the pillars of mindfulness, meditation and pranayama can be seamlessly interwoven into an asana class, strongly enabling you to offer a more profound Yin Yoga experience to your students.

Essence

This course and its components will guide you through your strengths and areas of development with active workshops, practical learning, theory classes, group work, individual reflection, self-practice, case studies and practicums. This course works towards the development and goals in creating the right avenue for you in Yoga.

**This course has a strong thread of art of teaching**
The art of teaching will prepare you to understand the responsibilities of being a Yin Yoga teacher, looking at key aspects within teaching methodology. Specific techniques shall be shared pertaining to pranayama, meditation, mindfulness, Yin and Yoga. Being an experiential, positive and inspirational learning environment, you will embody the physical, energetic, mental and emotional realms within the yin yoga practice from two points of view: the practitioner and the teacher.

One to one consultation
We believe that no yoga course is effective without giving time for integration, questions, answers and support that are personal to you. The second week focuses on you and supporting you to integrate your knowledge into a workshop based class and beyond. Working with students on a one on one basis is what puts this course apart from others. Every student receives a one to one consultation with lead trainers on how to confidently move forward with their Yin Yoga teaching path.
