The functional anatomy and Chinese medicine training takes you through the fundamental and non-negotiable elements of teaching Yin Yoga safely. Learning the foundations of functional anatomy means that you will be able to make the practice accessible to everybody who comes to your classes. Journeying through Chinese medicine, you will understand where Yin comes from, separate of Yoga, and how the Chinese view the body as an energy system, incorporating the elements within the universe (macrocosmos) that also reside inside our “body” (microcosmos). You will gain a new perspective of the practice and understand how “Yin Yoga” is not only a bridge between two ancient traditions that are similar in concept, but not identical, but also how “Yin Yoga” is a Yin approach to Yoga.
Yin Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation and Mindfulness takes you through deeper realms of the Yin and Yoga practice. Asana was created as an exercise to enable sitting in meditation for longer periods of time. By moving beyond the asana you can enter the more intricate components that make up the spiritual practice of Yoga. Developing tools and understanding in how to integrate Pranayama into Yin Yoga will help you offer a deeper healing experience for your community. Exploring the essence of meditation and mindfulness you will not only get insight as to what may be happening inside the brain throughout the practice, but you will understand how to create a seamless experience incorporating these important parts of the spiritual practice of Yoga.
In this training you will start to explore an important aspect of the human existence (the mind) and how we can promote a holistic and responsible way to practice and teach Yin Yoga through the mental lens. Looking at how the brain is designed to change itself based on everything we feed it (environment, thoughts, beliefs, friends and family, for example), we can start to understand the impact Yin Yoga can have on our minds in a profound way. Not only can we start becoming more intelligent within our teaching but we can start to acknowledge patterns, beliefs and behaviours, in our practice, that are not serving us, and learn to disempower negative neural circuitry.
Yin Yoga, Emotional Intelligence & Aromatherapy will take you into the emotional dimension of the Yin Yoga practice. The way in which we navigate life through society is largely by our emotional awareness and interpersonal skills. Many people who come to the Yin Yoga practice come for some level of development in emotional awareness or connection. In this course you will learn how to approach Yin through the emotional lens, and how the emotional brain functions with the plasticity (changing) of the brain and how we can harness our full potential of teaching and practising through our emotional layer. Including aromatherapy offers you an extra tool in connecting directly to the limbic brain (the emotional brain), through the olfactory system (the sensory system for smell), to raise emotional intelligence for a deeper and more meaningful experience.
Yin and Yoga Nidra fit together seamlessly with the Yin practice being a stepping stone into the brain wave frequency and state of awareness of Yoga Nidra. The Yoga Nidra practice is an important part of the spiritual practice of Yoga as it is a heightened state of meditation. Sometimes known as Yogic sleep, it is in this state of existence that we thin the veil between the conscious and subconscious mind. Learning how to combine these two practices together will give you the ability to help your community on a much deeper level than a simple Yin practice. Moving beyond the asana and into the higher practices of Yoga, this Yin and Yoga Nidra course will help your journey through your spiritual quest.
